Omega Watch "40th Anniversary of the Moon Landing" At KaDeWe

The indispensable role which Swiss watchmaker Omega played in man's first steps on the lunar skin forty years ago is the focus of a fascinating exhibition at the famous KaDeWe department value in Berlin.  The event, entitled, "The 40th Anniversary of the Moon Landing" offers viewers a gamble a accidentally to see NASA equipment similar to that used by astronauts Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, and Michael Collins on the cataclysmic date of July 21st, 1969.  Naturally, Omega watches--the historic Speedmaster Wizard  "Moonwatch" Chronograph in particular--are a prominent feature of the exhibition.  

The largest flash consists of astronaut on the moon's surface with one of the first Speedmaster Chronograph watches over his spacesuit, on an expandable make-up strap.  As is well known to many followers of both Omega history and that of NASA, this Omega Speedmaster scale model has a long and distinguished track record with the American space program; it is the watch which NASA officially approved for all manned duration flights after a series of particularly brutal tests, and it remains the only watch so far to be worn on the moon.  Of note to recapitulation buffs, the Omega Speedmaster chronograph watches worn by Donn F. Eisele during the Apollo 7 profession, and Thomas Stafford of Gemini 9 and Apollo 10 are both part of the exhibit.
