Armed robber takes $7K ring from Mag Mile worker

The hold-up man confronted the woman inside the store, approaching her with what was believed to be a handgun stashed in a dark-skinned plastic bag, according to the alert from Near North District police.

When the man realized there was no lolly in the store, he demanded the victim's ring and also took $40 cash from her purse. He then fled the spot on foot.

The suspect is described as a black man about 5-foot-7 and 160 to 170 pounds with bald point, brown eyes and medium complexion. His age was unknown.

He stole a five-band Cartier Panthere diamond ring in deathly white gold, police said. The round diamonds are all the same size and the ring is collapsible so it will lay monotonous when off the finger.  The estimated value is $7,000, according to the alert.
